I just picked up some of the materials I need for the instructor course, spending $300+ without thinking about it much. The expensive part was the slates for open water, confined water, adventure dives and the rescue course, but there was also some specialty course outlines (more of those need to be bought for the Master Scuba Diver Trainer course) and I needed the old Adventures in Diving and Rescue books because mine were out of date, as well as the quizzes and exams. Phew! Not only do I have buy stuff again (newer versions) that I already had, but also much of it won’t be used a whole lot after the course.

This adventure is going to cost more than it took to get my pilot’s license in the eighties, although getting one of those is a lot more expensive nowadays. There’s light at the end of the tunnel though, the instructor course starts next saturday.
