Cozumel Day 4 – San Juan Reef March 4, 2011

This is the northernmost reef I’ve dived in Cozumel. The one after this is Barracuda, which I hope to try next time, and I’ll have then completed the entire West side of the island. The North is where the strongest currents are most consistently found, and as long as you’re not intending to look at anything for very long, unless it’s sheltered behind a ledge, it’s great fun.
Christi noticed a Squid but I was the only one in position to get a picture of it, and not a very good as I flew right over it. I had to crop this picture heavily to make the Squid reasonably large.
We’re always happy to see Turtles on the dives. This one seems to be hanging out with a Lion Fish.
I didn’t photograph the Finger Coral but both Pedro and Christi were pleased to see a big field of it. It had been wiped out by Hurricane Wilma in 2005 but has now grown back – at least at that spot.
